St Edith’s Church, Bishop Wilton in the snow.
St Edith’s, the medieval village church is dedicated to Edith Wilton. The church is definitely worth a visit even if it is just to see the floor, which is a replica of that from the Vatican in Rome.
Just north of the village lies Bishop Wilton Wold referred to as Garrowby Hill at 807 feet (246 m) above sea level this it is the highest point on the Yorkshire Wolds and offers a perfect gate way for walking into the Wolds with views from the top across the Vale of York.
A small beck (or stream) runs the length of the village. Children love to play in this and we recommend children bring wellie boots. This also offers a fantastic habitat for endangered wildlife including water voles, toads and newts.
